Oh La La Cafe Plaza Indonesia

A sudden meeting with my friend leads to an afternoon tea session. This time we're trying Oh La La Cafe which is now located at the more approachable and in-crowd-able location in Plaza Indonesia. This french themed cafe is known for their fabulous series of patisseries which includes delicious cakes and yumsters of macarons.

Macarons
IDR 7k/each, IDR 20k/3 pieces
Let's not forget the role of macarons on your afternoon tea. Not only is that they give more colors to the plate, they also taste nice. I am pretty much fond of the macarons here, they're very chewy and fluffy on the inside but crunchy on the outside. I rarely find macarons that are actually strong in flavors, some I barely even taste the flavor, but these pretty little devils are hearty in mouth.
Green: Pistachio, Blue: Blueberry (RECOMMENDED), Brown: Chocolate

Chocolate Twist
IDR 16.5k
Lovely crunchy texture leads to a moist patisserie on the inside. I was lucky that I got the one fresh from the oven so when I sliced it open, the aroma was just wonderful. The chocolate may not be as generous as I thought it would be but it still gave you the chocolate flavor you want.

Sacher Cake
IDR 35k
Absolute winner! Now this is a chocolate cake! From the top to the bottom, you'll experience a soft moist cake with wealthy chocolate flavor especially from the lovely layer on top. The cake literally melts in your mouth, such a joyful flavor explosion :). Would love you to have this one.

Iced Cafe Latte
IDR 30k
The Iced Cafe Latte is a great choice for a rather quick drink, the flavor is balanced, overall it's good but nothing very significant in this drink from the most coffees I've had before.

Oh La La Specialties:
Haute Couture
IDR 35k
First of all, gotta give it to the presentation! Such a wonderful color gradation from orange to green <3 (even though the green's very little), very very impressed with the outer look but still, the question is, is the flavor as sweet as it looks? It definitely is sweet, and yet unique. I can hint a glimpse of orange and pineapple flavor inside leaving me with a fresh impression. This one is what you should try by the time you pay your visit here.

Oh La La can be in your consideration for a lovely place for lunch (will come back for that, I was drooling when I looked at their menu) or afternoon tea, they do have great selections of cakes and beverages. I'd really recommend you their Sacher Cake. I wonder why this outlet didn't have their fabulous meat-filling-croissants like I usually purchase in hospitals or airports. I know right, not your common places to have croissants. However,  I did ask and I didn't have a really clear answer, but I am very impressed with the sleek and simple design they're upscaling to this outlet because it does look more "parisienne".

Have a fabulous weekend guys! Thank you for reading.

Colette and Lola Jakarta: When Cakes Meet Dreams

FINALLY!!! To be honest, this is like the most requested blog post ever, but since I was busy maintaining my blogging activity and my final year of university, I've been having a little trouble managing time for myself to surf J-city's culinary spots and be a beast.

This new cake house in town is so popular and again if you're wondering who is the master behind this, it's none other than Ismaya Group. I don't know what else to say about Ismaya but for me, they are the king of branding their stores and they are super nice in the concept and packaging, no wonder why Colette and Lola has crazy vibes around Jakartans.

I'm going to apologize to you all upfront for the upcoming photos you're going to see, the first few photos were shot with my DSLR but the rest of them were taken with my Samsung Galaxy Camera (Thank God that camera's such a savior!). I was so upset that Colette and Lola didn't allow DSLRs, but I've read some reviews from other bloggers and they're using DSLR (you can tell)!!! Since this post is like the most requested and I want to really show you guys the sweet paradise everyone's talking about, I'm afraid I have to lower your expectations ;(.

But I guess, better there is than none, right? Finish what you started, I already arrived so let me tour you around.

First impression, this place is totally like the dream bedroom/candy world for girls who love soft pastel colors, the whole room's so feminine and pretty. This store area is not big, it's pretite: pretty and petite.

Loving this to the max!!!

The room was dominated with soft pastel colors like violet, pink, yellow and soft-blue, the colors are super eye-catching even before you stepped into the store as you can pre-seen it through the glass window. I actually love the vibe of this place, thank you for being petite! I came here when the rain was occuring and the sky outside was a little gloomy and this place was for me, the ideal place to stay, it's like entering a joyful room with splash of colors while the sky outside was dark and almost monochromatic.

I can't stop taking pictures, the whole area and every corner "forced" me to take pictures.

Since you guys ask for a Photoshop tutorial, I'm going to make a tutorial to get the tone of this photo below. I call it "Soft Peach Kiss".

This is actually the area where they sell you stickers, greeting cards, biscuits, cookies, pop cakes, hampers and anything pretty. They're super well designed and illustrated. Loving this kind of illustration.

CAKES!
Starting from the "Call Me Panda" cake all the way around clockwise.

Call Me Panda
IDR 32k
From what I tasted, this cake is a chocolate mousse cake with cripsy vanilla crumble layer underneath. Have it all the way from the top to the bottom to have a little texture play. This cake is somehow good but for me it's not that fantastic good, I need more drama from a cake.

My Lady Grey
IDR 28k
Love at first try, this is my favorite cake from Colette and Lola. This cake is Valrhona Caramelia Chocolate with Earl Grey Tea infused Bavarian cream. Well, you can definitely hint a touch of Earl Grey Tea in this cake but it's not overpowering though. I love that this cake is mousse form. I am more into mousse cakes lately, it just feels dreamier and lighter.
One question... why is this cake reminds me so much of the chocolate cakes from Harvest?

Rainbow Cake
IDR 28k
This cake is also decent and it's also said that this cake is one of the best seller as well as the "My Lady Grey" one. I finally found a moist yet super yummy rainbow cake, this one is certainly worth your order.

Lola Cola Macaroon and Coffee Macaroon
IDR 10k
These macaroons have nice texture and decent taste, not very sweet for my liking. I'd say that this is pretty good, and the price is reasonable. The Lola Cola Macaroon has a hint of cola infused to the macaroons and somehow the cream itself, while the Coffee Macaroon is common yet still good.

Creamy Chocolate and Cheese
IDR 15k
I honestly can't really taste the chocolate in this cake as much as the cheese, the cake itself is in a good moisture level.

My eyes were attached to this gorgeous greeting card for their Ramadhan edition.
and with this, coofod also greets you...
HAPPY FASTING SEASON!!!
May this month brings you joy, brings you something to reflect, therefore you might find fabulous reasons to stay happy in life!!!
indeed!

To conclude my journey, I think Colette & Lola is a really nice place to hang around with your friends, to have your afternoon tea and pretty yet yummy cakes at A VERY PRETTY PLACE. Make sure that you come around the afternoon because during the night, the waiting list in insane, totally an usual scenery of Jakartans when the hip of a new place in town is rising. I'll definitely come back here though for the cakes.

Bloggers Tea Time with Dapur Cokelat Menteng

Hello my lovely readers! How are y'all doing??? I don't know why I am so happy today, I feel like my metabolism is rising and my endorphins are working very well. I don't know why am I even saying this but I am just happy! Why oh why?

Oh! Maybe because this post contains a lot of endorphin source! CHOCOLATE!!!

So last week I was invited for an exclusive bloggers tea time session with Dapur Coklat Menteng by Chef Adith. Basically, Dapur Cokelat is now releasing their version of an awesome tea time with the theme "New Look, New Sensation: New Personal Cake!". This invitation just comes in a right time, literally when I am on my high tea mission, and what's Dapur Cokelat without their selection of awesome chocolate cakes??? That makes this one certainly not to be missed. The growth of the restaurants offering you a nice tea time experience is so rapid, and for ones, it's a good thing.

Dapur Cokelat is like a bottomless pit of chocolate factory.
Three photos below taken with Samsung Galaxy Camera.

Don't worry, those above were just the "appetizers", and again, don't worry, the chocolate foodporns don't stop right here, I still have tons to show you guys.

Chef Adith told us that there are 17 cakes to be served for us for presentation and the excitement don't stop right there, we are allowed to taste the cakes!!! Certainly not each and every cake because I'm going to end up closer to diabetic (just kidding), no, honestly sweet treats somehow make you very full, but I still managed to at least have one bite of some cakes expecting to be impressed.

Left to right:
DC's Choco (16k)
Raspberry Jefa (21.5k)
Opera Cake (20k)
Choco Monkey (15k)
Chocolate Caramel (22k)

Here are some of the cakes that I managed to take an individual shot and some I tried myself.
Choco De La Creme
IDR 25k
This cake is the star of the night because from the overall tasting, I'd say this is the best! This cake is the mixture of Vanilla and Chocolate Creme Brulee with Glazy Dark Chocolate Coating. Starting from the coating to the very last bite, you'll find a joy of eating this soft mousse cake with rich chocolate taste, the cake literally melts and dances in your mouth, damn I want it again right now.

Maybe you're wondering about some gold sparks on top of the cake and if some of you think of it as gold, then YES IT IS! and plus, it's 24 karat gold!!! Only 24 karat gold is edible. Remember that.

Fruit Shortcake
IDR 15.5k
This one is light, if you love a basic vanilla fruit tart, this one is for you. Applause for the crunchy almonds.

Strawberry Cheesecake
IDR 22k
If you have been a loyal reader, you probably know that I am not a big fan of cheese, I just can't eat certain type of cheese, except Mozarella because it barely tastes like common cheese and Mozarella is like one of the best inventions of earth after smartphones (I know, not relevant), so I didn't manage to try this but according to the bloggers, it's nice, so I guess worth your try, it looks pretty already <3.

Caramel Chocolate
IDR 22k
One input given to Chef Adith for this cake, because it tastes more like a Chocolate Caramel rather than the vice-versa, you can sense the caramel but it's just very little, maybe some would expect more, right? The chocolate used here is the Dark Chocolate and the cake is somehow thicker than most cakes here, but is this bad? Not at all, I honestly pretty much like it.

Fruit Tartlet
IDR 12.5k
Tastes almost the same as the Fruit Shortcake only different base and texture, but still, another worth to try.

Dapur Cokelat Opera Cake
IDR 20k
I bet this cake needs no introduction, it's their famous Opera Cake and I have been such a fan of this cake ever since I was in high school because this cake occasionally become the surprise cake! I love how the layers of the buttercream and dark chocolate ganache (and definitely coffee) blends together in your mouth. The buttercream somehow not overpowering. One of the best Opera Cake in town you need to rush here and purchase!

Red Velvet Cake
IDR
I can't keep my eyes off the red velvet cake! I don't know like when I am in a certain cake store, my eyes always fall for the red velvets, they're just magnetizing it's like their red color has this energy to keep my eyes on the cake. Therefore, I fall depper into tasting the cake and this one is good!

Choco Monkey
IDR 15K
This dark chocolate cake has a huge hint of banana and that's probably why they named it "Choco Monkey" cake. The monkey was so cute I have no guts eating it.

Tiramisu Cake
IDR 19.5k
DECENT! That word was exactly what's on my mind when I had the first bite of this cake, Dapur Cokelat is so good in keeping the cake and the mascarpone cream not to be milky-overpowering, which is good for my liking, and for my personal preference, it's totally a major plus point.

Mango Cassata
IDR 18k
Mango and chocolate are meant to be with one another. Genius idea and so photogenic, just look at the cake.

Hazelnut Pralines
IDR 25k
One of my most favorite of the Tea Time session. The chocolate truffle cake is so creamy and the hazelnut is rich but not sharp. You know what I ultimately loved about this cake? It's the biscuit/macaroon on top of the cake, it just adds the contrast and the texture, I don't like boring cakes and this is certainly not boring. MUST TRY.

Two Seasons
IDR 19.5k

Triple Decker
IDR 17.5
This is also another favorite of mine among the series, I love the usage of the dark cherries as the filling, somehow adds a little touch of sourness, certainly what I need after huge hits of sweet treats.

Java Chocolate
IDR 15k

After this session, I left with a happy face and happy tummy, again still managed to release a few holes of my belt for my stomach to breathe and to hide the scale in my house after I arrived.

The surprise doesn't stop there! I was given a fabulous goodie bag of their "Choco De La Creme" and "Opera" cake, but it doesn't look so appetizing after I arrived home, somehow maybe the cakes were fighting on my way home.

Here's how Dapur Cokelat look from outside, to help you from getting lost.
Photos taken with Samsung Galaxy Camera.

THANK YOU DAPUR COKELAT FOR THE SWEET TREATS!
The thing with Dapur Cokelat is that they serve us great cakes with affordable prices, sometimes when you enter a restaurant and you realize that one slice of cake is a little too pricy and you make it a lesson not to coming back, but not with this one, I am pretty sure that Dapur Cokelat will be the destination of a great tea time place, just look at them! How many years have they served us with their gracious chocolate treats? They already have 12 outlets spread around Indonesia, they just maybe need a bigger venue for dine in.

And here's a case, if you have IDR 50k to shop in Dapur Cokelat, I would recommend you their "Choco De La Creme" and "Hazelnut Pralines" or "Mango Cassata" or "Raspberry Jefa" (I don't manage to take a individual picture of the cake, but it's actually in my 7th photo-starting from above-beside the Opera Cake with a chocolate swirl on top).
