Master Wok Lotte Shopping Avenue: Wok with LOVE!

Another new invention from Boga Group, Master Wok is now here to serve you guys the finest Chinese culinary in an express way.

I attended an event held by Master Wok at Lotte Shopping Avenue (LOVE) last week, it's supposed to be a soft opening and in the same time promotion to the media and food bloggers. Maybe some of you starts wondering, why is it that a group as big as Boga Group is expanding its venture to a smaller section, for those of you who don't know, Master Wok is located at the food court area of the mall, but don't get them wrong, they're trying to reach another market: people who truly love fine Chinese cuisine and they might happened to be in a rush.

Bento is the concept of the restaurant, the ordering of the food itself is super simple: the fresh and premium dishes are served for your eyes only and you can select what you want, they also have sets for a better deciding. By the way guys, did I mention that each and every food served here is H A L A L? Yeay!

Cap Cay (Mixed Veggies)

Honey and Ginger Chicken
This one is one of my personal favorites! I mean look at that!!! They look delicious, juicy and yummy already I wanted to rape the chicken!

Sweet and Sour Chicken

Blackpepper Beef
Yummy? Check!

Enoki Mushroom Tofu

Oyster Sauce Pakcoy

Sweet and Sour Fish

Since each and every guest was allowed to have their own bento set that day, I went with having fried rice, Blackpepper Beef, Enoki Mushroom Tofu and Fragrant Chicken. I had the protein, carbs and vitamins which means a good thing because you need a balanced metabolism right?! I honestly like my chose of bento set even though I am fully aware that it doesn't look very appealing in presentation, but don't judge the unattractive look! Judge the flavor! Remember, looks can be very deceiving.

If you ask me to choose the menu for another set, I'd probably stand still to my choice, but you can also try its fabulous "Egg Yolk Prawn", it's super nice and crunchy. (I don't have the photo because by the time, it hasn't been served yet).

Free complimentaries of soup of the day and Chicken Roll (should be the appetizer). The chicken roll is so crunchy yet nice! The soup itself needs a little more seasoning, but I love that they're using seaweeds <3.

Life Is How You Take It and Give It

This is probably one of the biggest achievements that I've ever done. Well, I didn't win an award or I didn't get a lottery and win 1 billion rupiahs, it's all about self-achievement, something to do with this inside that I feel super proud of and I just want to share it with you guys.

I'm going to tell you upfront that this post will not contain food and beverages, it's just a little sharing that I really want to tell you guys, who knows it can be something that you're going to start thinking and consider doing.

This is actually something that us (meaning me and my family) did in the past. So around 3 months ago I went to this orphan house called "Pondok Damai" in Cilangkap (West Java). It's something that has been planned for a while. Each and everyone in my BIG family was asked to participate in the donation, it's either they want to donate money or food or whatever they want without any forcing and even if they don't want to donate anything, all pure intention. This happened just a few days after CNY so I thought I can donate some part of my good fortune to those who needed it more.

The house was not big and it was not small either, but moments after I stepped into the crowd of orphans who were patiently waiting for us, I thought I just stepped into a crowd filled with love, you can definitely see how pure and nice they were, and the fact that they're kids even makes the kindness and pureness more highlighted, you just can feel it (^.^).

They just appear so pure and their smiles were very beautiful I can't stand not to take photos of them, they really help me in the picture taking process because I have the best "models" and they're all beautiful.

This girl is very nice, she even asked me if I can take picture of her and I absolutely nod as yes!!!
and she gave me that blue paper bird as a gift..aww how sweet.

The purpose of this orphan house visit beside the social purpose is to also give surprise and celebrate the birthday of three pretty kids, it was very sentimental for me to be able to give such happiness for others, especially ones who probably had things like this happening to them for the very first time in their lifes, since it's a surprise, it's happening a little later so hold on.

This girl is also the cutest thing is the world, she's very active, adorable and she likes everything "PINK". This is probably the very first post that I personally abused the word "pretty", "adorable", "sweet", "gorgeous", "beautiful". OMG those words can't even describe them enough I am lost in emphasizing, you just need to meet these girls they're awesome!!!

I love the fact that the kids in this orphan house are not shy and their cheerfulness just bright up the whole day, it's full of laughters, spirits and definitely love for one another. Kids here range from age 4-15 and the older ones act like brother/sister to the rest.

The days in this Orphan house are always productive because they're being taught and given the art and craft skills, how to produce it and make something that could earn personal and material benefits, at the end part of this post, I'm going to show you later on what I mean with the art and craft skills.

So we came with this one game, it's actually very easy but it requires a great team skills and definitely CREATIVITY. The prettiest and most creative one is going to win a goodie bag (but definitely everyone's given, it's just to make their spirit risen). The game is called "COLLAGE YOURSELF", so basically it is to create a collage of their own photos and they need to decorate it with materials that we brought like sparkling dusts, markers, crayons and etc.

Let's see some pictures relating to the game:

I think the winner is this group, the nurse decided the winner but really everyone is a winner, and competition is just a word, it means nothing for this event and... here. I had a picture of the nurse at the end of this post, her name is Leony, she's probably the most important/head of this orphan house, she's an angel to these kids.

*HAPPY FACES*

I wanted to take more photos of the kids with the artworks but the nurse annouced that it's time for lunch so they abandoned me :(...nah joking! You know how it feels when you're hungry right!!!

I told you earlier that this post won't contain any food and beverage, well not really! What's coofod without at least one food pictures, this time is nothing fancy, it's a simple food that brings joy to everyone :). Best thing of it? All home made and made with LOVE!

rice + fried noodle + fried chicken + meatball soup + kerupuk! PARFAIT.

This cake is also homemade, my aunt is such a talented cook and she owns a bakery company, not sure if this one is custom made or another of her product that she also sells.

It's time for another FUN PART! THE BIRTHDAY SURPRISE!
This girl is just like a doll can't take my eyes of her.

CHEERS IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAYYYYYY!!!
Isn't it nice when you can witness the happy moments? It's even happier for me because I was the one giving it to these precious kids. Wishing these kids all the happiest moments in life and of course I wish that these kids can grow up and become "someone" with confidence and successful life.

I'm getting so emo now I'm so happy!!!

Anyway I told you about the art and craft skills that they're given and they applied it to these pretty artworks!!! Buy some of them as appreciation for their hardworks.

What's a memorable visit without...what else...*clear throats*
GROUP PHOTO!!!

See the nurse in the middle, bet you can see her since she's the only one wearing the whitest-white outfit, that's nurse Leony, the angel I talked about earlier. In case you're wondering where I am, I am the one taking the photos so you won't find me anywhere. *cry*

Nah!! I'm joking I know you must have missed me, which I'm pretty sure you guys do not! But that's okay I'm still going to leave you guys and finish this post with two pictures of me with these lovely kids, they're too adorable I can't stand not taking pictures with them.

I hope this post inspires you to do something similiar like this or even more to help others, I personally think you don't need to do something big and spectacular just to make others happy, it's just that little something that could light up their smiles and make them more deserving to be living in this seriously beautiful world.

Seriously I'm going to do more social acts, I'm so acting like a personal pope to myself MWAHAHA!

Love you guys to death! Shoo for now.

A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON COFFEE: Coffee Culture Seminar by Le Meridien Hotel and Illy Coffee (Part 2).

Hi everybodeeeeh and welcome to another post, and this post is probably what you've been waiting for...

PART TWO OF LE MERIDIEN HOTEL AND ILLY COFFEE: COFFEE CULTURE SEMINAR, Gosh that's long for a title!

Thank you thank you because you guys have been very kind to me and for the first post, it actually receives tons of hits and become the most read post this week! I'm going to give you a visual hug right now!!!

Anyways, this second post will be all about the food and the treats I got from the seminar, why do I separate this into a different post? Because I want to keep this one dish a highlight because it's so unique and different and the best thing is...

okay let me introduce you to this:
SHRIMP COOK ESPRESSO WITH PUFF PASTRIES!
In case you read it wrong...I mean it! This shrimp is cooked with espresso coffee! How unique is that?!

So basically to cook this is pretty simple as what I experienced examining the cooking process, so basically the ingredients are all prepared: I noticed onions, salt, pepper, oil (preferrable virgin coconut), water and of course: espresso!

As simple as that, but there must be another secret ingredients that they don't tell everyone because if you look at something creamy on the pan, that's a finished mixed ingredients that they're putting together along with the other ingredients (onion, salt, pepper). That's okay, maybe it's their secret weapon or something.

At first I honestly thought they were tiny fluffy breads but actually they're very crunchy puff pastries.
I thought the dish was spectacular, never thought that espresso could actually blend very well with the original taste of shrimp, shrimp has this scent when it's cooked that's so good, and the espresso also smells like it after it's cooked, and I mean it in a very good way.

I have no  problem with the puff pastries, but I don't think that it's going to be a bad idea to have the actual tiny fluffy breads just like what I've imagined before, especially when I start imagining the remaining sauce from this dish is poured on bread surface. Gorgeeee!

We weren't served with main course, but the main star has got to be the Espresso Shrimps and the rest of the food are light bites and finger food, but they're all buffet and they're mostly delicious and since the theme is coffee...most of them are made with the mixture of coffee, can be anything starting from coffee powder, espresso, creme, and mix!

Calamari with Coffee Bean Powder.
UH-MAZING, and hey, since I am a devoted seafood lover and also devoted coffee lover and so I'm devoted to this! Don't mistaken the huge hint of coffee you're getting, it's more like a garnish to this dish, you can feel it, but not that strong.

Baked Salmon with Papaya Salad.
The salmon is cooked beautifully, but frankly speaking, I'm not a big fan of papaya but I managed to give it a try and it's fresh and decent, still not falling for this but top nod for the baked salmon.

Chocolate Cup Tarts (with a little hint of coffee).
Not sure where the coffeee comes from, it's not written but I know this is a cup tart, you can totally feel the taste of coffee from the cream, I personally think that it is mixed.

One of my favorite of the day <3

Chocolate and Coffee Pralines and cookies
I am loving the one with cocoa powder all over it.
Chocolate with White and Coffee Cream
This is probably the most beautiful looking and the most tempting one. I adore the presentation and if you're looking at the two separate creams, yes there are two creams used for this dish.

The white one I assume is vanilla cream and the brown one is the one with coffee. The brown one obviously tastes richer and more different. I thought it's almost like coffee version of cookies and cream.

Has this with a glass of Macchiato Freddo that Eduardo made for me. Parfait!
Tribute to Eduardo.

and last but not least, for this one:
THANK YOU LE MERIDIEN FOR THESE MACAROONS!
and if you're guessing that this one is cappuccino, then you're right! Again coffee hint everywhere. These macaroons actually tastes like both cappuccino and mocha, that's okay they're in the same family tho.

Taste? decent, the cream is somehow milky and the macaroon dough is crunchy... I love that even though I've been having pretty much coffee but this one is actually not making you sick from having too much coffees (FYI I didn't have any breakfast that day and to have a lot of coffees might not be a good thing, I had like 3 cups of coffees without any meal at first but I feel fine, maybe because it's Illy's MUAHAHAHA!)

and also for the Illy coffee vouchers and lots more!

I HAD A GREAT DAY!
THANKS A LOT LE MERIDIEN AND ILLY COFFEE!
